plywood – coatings – fittings

lauan (shorea)

Lauan is rarely used for our plywood panels, but is also a common type of wood for plywood.

number of species: 200 Shorea species
distribution: Southeast Asia, Philippine, Indonesian
fruits: small, brown-yellow, flat winged Nuts
height: 40-70 meters
diameter: 60 – 300 cm
properties of wood: moderately hard, reddish, pore large
leaves: alternate arrangement permanent, more or less leathery

Due to its resistance to fungal and medium to large insects the wood is very popular for outdoor use like windows, doors, park benches and highly stressed structures. And, of course, also for plywood.
